Sunday, October 12: Wellsboro, PA - Davis, WV

  • Depart from the Terminal  
    Available pickups: Mansfield, Blossburg, Liberty, Williamsport
    PLEASE NOTE: The above pickups are available, but you must call to confirm. We do not stop at all pickup locations, unless people are designated to get on at the pickup locations.
  • Fast food breakfast stop will be made en route.
  • Arrive in Davis, WV for an included WELCOME LUNCH at THE SMOKEHOUSE AT BLACKWATER FALLS.  The homey atmosphere of this place allows customers to relax before your 3-day sightseeing adventure.  Service at this spot is something one would call FINE.
  • Following lunch, we will stop at BLACKWATER FALLS BOARDWALK.  You will enjoy beautiful views of Blackwater Falls from the boardwalk overlook at the end of this short trail.  This 0.2-mile out-and-back trail is generally considered an easy route, and takes an average of 4 minutes to walk.
  • Mid-afternoon, arrive at CANAAN VALLEY RESORT LODGE, your home for the next 2 NIGHT'S LODGINGLUGGAGE SERVICE is included.
  • Tonight, you are in for a treat with DINNER & ENTERTAINMENT at the GANDY DANCER THEATRE.  Enjoy a wonderful dinner, sit back and watch an amazing show, where performers will pay tribute to musical legends!

Monday, October 13: Davis, WV - Green Bank, WV - Cass, WV - Davis, WV

  • BREAKFAST is included at the hotel.
  • Depart from the hotel for a relaxing 2-hour journey through the mountains of West Virginia, to Green Bank. On arrival, you will take a tour of the NATIONAL RADIO ASTRONOMY OBSERVATORY. Intentionally-located in one of America's quietest spots, here their scientists are listening to sounds from space.  
  • Lunch is on your own at the Observatory
  • At 1:45 pm, it's "All Aboard" the CASS SCENIC WHITTAKER!  The trip to Whittaker Station takes two hours for the eight-mile roundtrip.  Passing the water tower and machine shop, the railroad begins to climb lower slopes of switchbacks, the engines alternately pushing, then pulling passenger cars because the grade is so steep.  After passing the entrance to Cass Cave, the railroad levels off for the stop at Whittaker Station, surrounded by green meadows and fine views of the countryside. 
    • NOTE: Whittaker Station is the location of an authentic logging camp recreated by volunteers of the Mountain State Railroad & Logging Historical Association.  Passengers will have a 30-minute layover to enjoy the views.  There is a cool, shady picnic grove with tables where excursionists may rest and enjoy the scenery for a bit.
  • Return to the hotel with DINNER included at the Resort tonight. 

Tuesday, October 14: Davis, WV - Elkins, WV - Romney, WV - Wellsboro, PA

  • BREAKFAST is included at the hotel.
  • Check out and depart at 8:00 am for Elkins, WV.   ADMISSION is included to explore the WEST VIRGINIA RAILROAD MUSEUM.  This Museum is located in the historic Darden Mill in Elkins, WV - a city that was built by the railroads. The Mill is on the corner of First Street and Railroad Avenue, two blocks south of the heart of downtown and the old railway depot.  The Darden Mill was built in 1902, on land purchased by from the West Virginia Central and Pittsburgh Railway Company.  It was a grain mill between 1902 and 1943, run first by the Elkins Milling Company.
  • At 12:30 pm, it's "All Aboard" on the POTOMAC EAGLE SCENIC RAILROAD.  You will enjoy this three-hour narrated excursion through a tranquil and pristine mountain valley with a PREMIUM LUNCH included.  View historic farms and lush mountain greenery.  Around every curve you are rewarded with the splendor of native wildflowers, evergreens, and mixed hardwoods in an unspoiled countryside environment.  Don't be surprised to see bald eagles overhead in pursuit of prey or gliding gently across the blue mountain skies as if to flaunt...   
  • Dinner on your own at a popular restaurant in Altoona.
  • Return to Terminal, with "divine" memories of your West Virginia vacation!
