They deck the halls of this mountain getaway with twinkling lights, evergreen boughs, and 19 Christmas trees. The old-fashioned ski resort is still owned by descendants of Maria and Baron Georg von Trapp, who eventually moved to the Green Mountains after fleeing Nazi-occupied Austria. This trip is guaranteed to put you into the holiday mood!

Sunday, December 8

  • Depart from the Terminal with available pickups: Mansfield, Lawrenceville, Corning, Horseheads, Sayre
  • BREAKFAST is included this morning.
  • Lunch and rest breaks en route.
  • "GEMUTLICHKEIT" (welcome) to THE TRAPP FAMILY LODGE in Stowe, Vermont. This unique mountain resort features Austrian-inspired architecture and European-style accommodations. You will enjoy stunning mountain views, old world comforts and impeccable service. This evening, enjoy a THREE COURSE DINNER in the Main Dining Room. 

Monday, December 9

  • Enjoy COUNTRY BREAKFAST BUFFET at the hotel this morning.
  • Your LOCAL GUIDE will meet you at the lodge for a day of touring.
    Our first stop is the MORSE MAPLE SUGAR FARM. Learn how maple syrup is made as you tour the sugar house. View the multimedia displays in a real woodshed theatre. Stroll along a nature trail and shop in the country store. Complete your tour in the VERMONT FARM LIFE MUSEUM complete with whimsical carved folk-like characters.
  • Travel to MONTPELIER and tour the STATE CAPITOL, the smallest in the United States! Lunch will be on your own at the State Capitol Café.
  • Our last stop of the day is at the CABOT CHEESE ANNEX. Browse the fantastic selection of Cabot products, sample their award-winning cheeses, and delight in many other Vermont specialty foods. Visit their neighbors in the Annex and pick up some delicious LAKE CHAMPLAIN CHOCOLATES, enjoy the beautiful DANFORTH PEWTER STORE, and be sure to visit the new SMUGGLERS’ NOTCH DISTILLERY TASTING ROOM! Visit and re-energize with a cup of coffee from Green Mountain Coffee Visitor Center & Café.
  • Return to the lodge for AFTERNOON TEA.
  • DINNER BUFFET is included at the new "BIERHALL," overlooking the brewery where they make varieties of Trapp Family craft beers!

Tuesday, December 10

  • Enjoy COUNTRY BREAKFAST BUFFET at the hotel this morning.
  •  This morning, enjoy a TRAPP HISTORY TALK. The talk begins with an overview of the von Trapp family history (actual versus movie version) discussion of the property’s history and the family’s early years in America. We will finish our tour with a VIEWING OF THE DOCUMENTARY, "THE REAL MARIA." There will be time to visit the Austria Gift Shop and have your souvenir signed by a Trapp Family member.
  • Enjoy some FREE TIME in STOWE VILLAGE for lunch on your own. Browse the shops of this charming village with its "most photographed" church steeple.
  • COLD HOLLOW CIDER MILL in Waterbury Center.
  • Return to the Lodge and enjoy CHRISTMAS ORNAMENT MAKING before dinner.
  • Enjoy a THREE-COURSE DINNER in the Main Dining Room.

Wednesday, December 11

  • Enjoy COUNTRY BREAKFAST BUFFET at the hotel this morning.
  • Depart for home, taking with you many fond memories of your heartwarming stay at the Trapp Family Lodge.
  • A FAREWELL CHRISTMAS DINNER is included en route home.
