  QUEBEC CITY PARLIAMENT BUILDING: An imposing Second Empire chateau constructed between 1877 and 1886, just outside of the city walls. The plans were drawn up by engineer-architect Eugene-Etienne Tache, and inspired by the Louvre Museum in Paris. The Parliament Building houses the National Assembly, one of America’s oldest parliamentary institutions.
  PLAINS OF ABRAHAM: The site of many clashes for supremacy between the French and British Empires, the Plains of Abraham Park is the scene of the 1759 Conquest, which changed the fate of North America.   WALKING TOUR of PLACE-ROYALE: This is one of the oldest settlements in North America. It is the birthplace of French Civilization on this continent. Samuel de Champlain began its construction in 1608, creating the first permanent settlement in New France. Today, Place-Royale has been restored to make the most of its 400 years of history.
