Monday, June 17Alesund, Norway

  • One of Norway's most beautiful towns, renowned for its Jugend-style architecture and art nouveau style. Cruise visitors will immediately notice ÅLESUND'S unique layout, as it is built on islands extending to the sea and offers scenic views of fjords and the Sunnmore Alps. Ålesund is the fishing capital of Norway. The island of Giske is the reputed birthplace of the great Viking Rollo, who laid siege to Paris and founded the Duchy of Normandy. In 1904, a massive fire destroyed 800 buildings in this fishing port. Germany’s Kaiser Wilhelm II responded with immediate aid, and Ålesund was reborn. Not surprisingly, the town was rebuilt in the then-popular Art Nouveau style known as Jugendstil. The result is one of the prettiest ports in Norway. Buildings with elegant turrets and spires can be seen lining the streets of the city center. Today, the city is one of Norway’s most important fishing harbors and the world’s largest supplier of stockfish (Klippfisk) – dried cod.

Tuesday, June 18Geiranger, Norway

  • A quaint village nestled in a valley in western Norway, GEIRANGER grants a respite to remember. Visitors come from all over to explore the fjord and its gorgeous views of nearby waterfalls, mountainscapes and charming farms. Geiranger Fjord was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2005, but the area has been luring tourists since the turn of the 19th century. Take the Waterfall Walk to the heart of the cascades. Climb the Skywalk for Europe’s highest fjord view. Explore Geiranger by bike or on foot or hop in a raft or kayak for a view from the water. Once you’ve taken in your fill of mountain air, stroll the quaint village center. Indulge your sweet tooth at the local artisan chocolate shop or sit back at a cafe with a coffee and krumkake – a rolled cake with whipped cream in the center – and enjoy the view!

Wednesday, June 19Bergen, Norway

  • BERGEN has played a crucial role in Norwegian history and culture since Olav the Good founded the city in 1070. Perched between the sea and seven hills, Bergen has witnessed Vikings setting sail on voyages of exploration, trade and war. In the Middle Ages, its old port was a major trading hub for the Hanseatic League, the band of Germanic merchants whose trading empire encircled the Baltic and North Seas. In the 19th century, Bergen was home to such cultural luminaries as the virtuoso violinist Ole Bull and the composer Edvard Grieg.

Thursday, June 20Day at Sea

  •  FULL DAY AT SEA.

Friday, June 21Amsterdam, Netherlands

  • Affectionately known as the "Venice of the North," AMSTERDAM is actually situated below sea level and built entirely on stakes driven into the ground. The Anne Frank House, The Hague and a Delft Blue Pottery Factory are but a few of the sights that await your arrival.

Saturday, June 22Zeebrugge Brussels, Belgium

  • ZEEBRUGGE is your gateway to Brussels. The capital of Belgium, Brussels is really two cities in one. Old Brussels is a city of superb Baroque architecture with ornate guildhalls, cobbled lanes and one of the finest squares in Europe. New Brussels is the modern city, the capital of the European Union, the home of NATO and the seat of the European Atomic Energy Community.
